Using lumber salvaged from Philadelphia row homes, Bench Dog Design transforms discarded beams and joists into custom designed furniture. Bench Dog’s commitment to reclaimed local materials ensures eco-friendly products with character. At the core of its foundation, Bench Dog values the integrity of the craft, thoughtful detailing, and quality design.

Our Story
Bench Dog Design is a unique woodworking studio established by four friends (a couple of couples to be exact). [click here for staff profiles] What started as habit of collecting discarded pieces of wood in passing, soon became a business.

From design to fabrication, Bench Dog provides carefully crafted furniture, built-ins and other wood pieces. In addition to using reclaimed wood, Bench Dog is committed to using eco-friendly products and supporting the local economy and small businesses. Whether it's using a local photographer or printing on 100% recycled paper, Bench Dog promotes conscientious practices.

Our Space
Located at 2212 Sepviva Street, Bench Dog Design is housed in Fishtown’s own Liberty Cycle Garage. Quite fitting for our 'unique woodworking studio' we are surrounded by vintage Triumphs, Nortons, and other classic motorcycles. The large warehouse space is also the home of many other craftsman, artists, and builders.
